Edward James Riley

Edward "Skip" James Riley, age 79, of Ione, CA passed away February 26, 2025, in Ione, California. He was born on March 22, 1945, in Stockton, California to the late Maurice and Marion (Laraway) Riley.

Skip had a lifelong passion for building and customizing hot rods, a hobby that brought him immense joy and satisfaction. His dedication to the craft was evident in the countless hours he spent in his workshop, meticulously working on his latest project.

In addition to his love for hot rods, Skip was a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country with honor and bravery.

Skip will be remembered for his warm smile and love for his friends and family. He had a way of bringing people together through his storytelling and genuine interest in others, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Skip is survived by his wife of 13 years, Norma Jean; sons, David (Marnie) Clifford of Tucson, AZ, Patrick (Michelle) Riley of Ione, Tim Riley of Ione; stepchildren, Jennifer (Terry) Griffith of Ione, Eric (Esther) Sullivan of Elk Grove; brother, Micky (Debbie) Riley; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.  Skip is preceded by his first wife, Vonnie; and sister, Bonnie.

Services will be held at Daneri Mortuary on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:00a.m. Reception to follow at Creekside 217 West Jackson Street, Ione CA 95640.
