Genevieve "Gen" M. Denton

Genevieve "Gen" M. Custino-Denton, of Sacramento, CA, passed away at the age of 84 on Saturday, November 4, 2017. She was born in Ione, CA on May 8, 1933 to the late John and Nancy Custino. Gen was the devoted wife of Bob Denton, who she married on March 26, 1951 in Carson City, NV. Gen graduated high school in Ione, CA, class of 1952. She was a ward clerk at Kaiser Permanente on Morse Avenue in Sacramento, CA and retired after twenty years of dedicated service. Gen was a proud member of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians, as well as a member of the California Indian Heritage Center Task Force, and stayed true to her culture and traditions through her intricate basket weaving. She will be missed by her beloved husband, Bob Denton, of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Barbara (Gary) Bennett, of Folsom, CA; son, Douglas (Deanna) Denton, of Sacramento, CA; sister, Roberta Cooper, of Sacramento, CA; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary, Jackson, CA, with a funeral service to follow the next day, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., also at Daneri Mortuary, Jackson, CA. Interment will follow at Ione Public Cemetery, Ione, CA.
