Gerald John Cahill

IN MEMORY: GERALD JOHN CAHILL 1953 – 2026 AND JENNIFER MARIE STOKES 1961- 2021

Gerald Cahill and Jenny Stokes spent 32 years building a life together in Ione, CA where they raised their three children: Gerald Jr., April and John. Gerald was raised in South San Francisco and was a man who loved his friends and family, and doted lovingly on his mother Martha Cahill. He took great pleasure in spending time with them, often playing darts or enjoying winning at the casinos. Even after losing the use of his right arm in a tragic accident at age 21, Gerald never slowed down. Sadly, Gerald passed away in Jackson, CA on March 23, 2026 from an acute stroke. He is survived by his three children, sisters Cheryl Dillian-Stephens and Maureen Rydholm, and nieces & nephews.

Jenny Stokes was raised in Daly City. She was known for her love of family and her strength in the face of adversity, living with cerebral palsy for her entire life. She enjoyed teaching her daughter how to cook and finding joy in everyday moments, like playing Yahtzee and Bingo on her computer. Tragically, Jenny passed away on January 25, 2021 during the COVID pandemic due to a sudden heart attack. Together Jenny and Gerald raised their children who also have cerebral palsy, and despite the challenges with disability, all 3 graduated from Argonaut High School and, in Gerald Jr.'s case, earned an AA degree in marketing and is employed by McDonald’s in Martell.

A Celebration of Life potluck will be held on May 17th, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the VFW in Ione, CA. Friends, family, and the community are invited to join in this gathering to remember Jenny and Gerald.
