James "Jaye" V. Miller
September 3, 1915 — November 10, 2012
James V. (Jaye) Miller of Valley Springs died at home on Saturday, November 10, 2012 peacefully with family by his side. Jaye was 97, born September 3, 1915 in Murrietta, Oklahoma to a L.F. Miller and Mary Elizabeth Miller. Jaye had lived in Valley Springs for several years with his sister Dossie (Pinkie) Goodall. Jaye worked as a Union Plumber welding on the pipelines for several years. Jaye enjoyed always spending time with family and friends, pruning his rose bushes, helping edging the lawn, listening to the baseball games and Willies Roadhouse on the radio (Jaye was a number one fan of the San Francisco Giants), and no matter come rain or shine he always took time to go outside and have a little dip of his Red Man chewing tabacco. When Jaye was 18 years old him and his family headed to California. While his mother, father, sister and brothers all came over by truck Jaye choose to stay back in Oklahoma and work odd ball jobs to earn money to help his family get to California. Every month Jaye would work to earn $20.00 dollars. He would send some to his family for gas and food so they could move on to the next town, and keep some for himself so he would also have little money to move on to the next town. Jaye choose to hitch a ride on what ever train company that was in the town he happened to be working in (hoboing). In 1937 Jaye married his first wife Loretta Addie Head and they had one child Ace Miller. Loretta passed in 1980. He then met his second wife Arlyne Veale in 1981 and was married shortly after they met. Arlyne passed in 1998. Jaye will be laid to rest with both wives in Oregon. Jaye is survived by his son Ace, sister Dossie (Pinkie) Goodall, Niece Jennifer Merrill, 1 grandchild, 2 great grandchildren, 2 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 5 great great nieces and 1 great great Nephew. At the family's request there will be no services. Written with love by Tricia Boyes.
