John L. Powell

John L. Powell passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at his home in Ione at the age of 78. He was born in Texas on August 18, 1934 to Ruel and Ova (Easley) Powell. John married Verla Lloyd on March 15, 1952 in White Pines, CA. He worked as a supervisor for PG&E for 28 years. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Verla Powell of Ione; daughter, Cheryl Briski and her husband, Dale of San Andreas, CA; sons, Charles Powell and his wife, Carol of Valley Springs, CA, Jerry Powell and his wife, Clara of Jackson, CA; brothers, Glenn Powell and his wife, Barbara of Sacramento, CA, Gary Powell and his wife, Betty of Valecito, CA, David Powell and his wife, Shirley of Angels Camp, CA; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Powell and Eugene Powell. Friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday, May 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 4 at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, CA at 1:00 P.M.
