Kathryn Barbara Arnese
December 20, 1920 — November 10, 2015
Kathryn Barbara Arnese of Sutter Creek, CA, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in Jackson at the age of 94 years after a long bout of pneumonia. Kathryn was born in San Francisco, CA on December 20, 1920, a daughter of the late Mary Marie (Glavich) and Mitchell Chupich.
During her elementary education years in 1934, Kathryn was the Amador County Spelling Champion. Living in Fiddletown (Oleta) with her parents, she spent her last three years of high school as a companion to Doris Garibaldi Zancai in the Emmett Garibaldi home.
After high school Kathryn worked at the Perovich House and also for Maud Read before marrying Franklin Arnese of Sutter Creek. They were married almost 70 years.
Kathryn was a lifetime resident thereafter in Sutter Creek. During those years she was a homemaker and worked at the Amador County High School cafeteria while her three children were pursuing a college education. She excelled at cooking and she was known for her great pies.
When her children were older, Kathryn could enjoy and pursue her love of fishing, hunting, and spending time at the Silver Lake cabin that was built by family and friends. This fulfilled a lifetime dream of owning a cabin in the mountains while engaging in her hobbies.
She stated that her greatest contribution in life was her children but her children know that they were the very lucky recipients of having her as a mom.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Gary Arnese (Mary O'Neal) of Plymouth, CA; daughter Gale Brown of Sutter Creek, CA; daughter Sandra Trexler (Carl) of El Dorado Hills, CA; by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Franklin, in 2008 and son-in-law Larry Brown.
Private family services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties P.O. Box 595 Jackson, CA 95642. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book.
