Lowell Thomas, age 80, of Valley Springs passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 with loving family members by his side. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 12, 1932, a son of the late Marie (Kloosterman) and Walter Karl Thomas. Lowell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna of Valley Springs; daughter, Linda Marie, and her husband, Gordon Johnson, of Mokelumne Hill, CA., son, David Scott Thomas, and his wife Sissy, of Mokelumne Hill, CA; grandchildren, Heather Kramer and her husband, Josh of San Ramon, CA, Arin Mesa and her husband, Matthew of San Francisco, CA; great grandchild expected soon. Lowell was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Thomas. Lowell followed in his brother, Walter's footsteps and joined the US Air Force in 1951 serving his country during the Korean Conflict. In 1953 Lowell would meet the lovely Edna Mae Brumley and after talking a while Lowell asked Edna Mae on a date, she said yes but on one condition, he had to come to church with her. The two were married on September 26, 1953 in Bright, Indiana. Lowell worked for Chevron Oil Company for 36 years retiring from the Oakland, CA office as their Operations Manager. Lowell and Edna would travel around the country in their motorhome. They enjoyed going to Tennessee to the Storytelling Festival, campfires and fish fry's at Mule Days, and visiting various churches throughout their travels. In Lowell's lifetime he helped start two churches and worked with many others. Lowell was a Godly man who was selfless, always giving of himself to others. Lowell and Edna were two peas in pod, inseparable after his retirement. Besides the Lord no one loved Edna as much as Lowell.
