Onita Helen Raney

Onita Helen Raney, 92, of Antioch, CA, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Folsom, CA. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on September 7, 1921 to the late William and Delema (Dunham) Jennings. Onita was two years old when her mother died. Her father was not able to care for her; so she was raised by friends of the family in Detroit, MI. In 1936, at the age of 16, Onita married Ralph Raney, one of her father's employees. The couple, with her parents' permission, was married before Ralph went into the service in 1936. Their son, Ron was born in 1943 and 11 years later Craig joined the family. Ralph and Onita celebrated 63 years of marriage together. Who said it wouldn't last? In 1999 after their son, Ron was transferred to Concord, California Onita and Ralph decided it was time for them to make the move, following Ron and his family to Concord. Onita dabbled in Real Estate when she was younger and enjoyed shopping, but her family was the focus of her life along with her Christian Science. Onita is survived by her sons Ron Raney and his wife, Susan of Pine Grove, CA, Craig Raney of Milford, MI; 3 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Raney. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Science Church.
