Valerie Marion Kreth, 73, of Ione, CA, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. She was born in Missoula, MT on May 20, 1946 to the late Marion (Loesch) and Clarence Corwin.
Valerie moved to Ione in 1958 when her step-father went to work at Preston School of Industry. She attended Ione Elementary School and graduated from Ione High School in 1964, and then attended Sacramento State College. She married her high school sweetheart on March 1, 1969 and spent several years raising her family before going to work full time to help her husband with the family business.
She was a big supporter for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and headed bike-a-thons for several years as a fundraiser for the foundation. She was also a supporter of the Rotary Club of Ione and the Ione Business Association and worked at all their events. She joined Soroptimist of Amador County in 1995 and served on the board every year including President and was the advisor of S-Club for many years and took the S-Club kids on several trips including Las Vegas, Japan, Boston, and Italy. She really loved being part of the community and the friends that it gave her.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Richard H. Kreth; daughter, Andrea, and her husband Matt Karr of Ione, CA; and grandchildren, Hunter Karr and Taylor Karr; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Kreth.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 235 Montgomery Street, Suite 724, San Francisco, CA 94104
