Dave Zimring

Dave Zimring, 93, of St. Petersburg, passed away January 14, 2018. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Northside Hospital after he suffered a stroke during the holidays. Dave leaves behind his adoring wife of 38 years, Sharon Moore Zimring; five loving children: Sabrina Zimring of Denver, CO; Dane Zimring (Jessica) of Tampa; Lisa Zimring of Bradenton; Lori Zimring Woodward (Jeff) of Atlanta, GA; and Devin Zimring of Terra Ceia; and six beloved grandchildren: Krayer Zimring, Colton Zimring, Sophie Woodward, Emma Woodward, David Woodward, and Korina Hernandez Zimring. He was preceded by his wife, Leigh Harter Zimring; brother, Paul Zimring; and sister, Marilyn Zimring Geffner. Dave was born in Toledo, OH on November 22, 1924 and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. He served in the Navy as an Ensign on transport carriers in the South Pacific during World War II. Dave graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Industrial Engineering and from the University of Virginia with a degree in Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps, Engineering. He also attended the University of Wisconsin and NYU during his tour of duty during the war. In the Early 50’s, Dave moved to St. Petersburg to join his brother, Paul Zimring, in a window manufacturing business. He went on to develop and build homes, office buildings, and shopping centers across the Tampa / St. Petersburg region. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, January 18 from 4:30 - 6 pm at the Bayou Club, 7979 Bayou Club Blvd., Largo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dave's memory to Menorah Manor. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family. Service Information
