Gerald Joseph Larsen

Gerald J. Larsen, 75, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Monday January 8, 2007 at the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast in South Pasadena. He was born in Chicago and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. In his career as a Nuclear Engineer, based in the San Jose area of California, he worked all over the world for G.E., Quadrex, and Nuclear Power Services. In 1982, he married Helen (nee McComb) and raised her small children as his own, moving to St. Petersburg in 1985 to start his own nuclear engineering company. Gerry was able to retire at an early age and spend summers in the Bahamas with the family aboard their sailboat. As a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, he actively participated in sailing, race committees and cruising. From 1993 - 1998, Gerry served on the City of St. Petersburg Planning Commission and Historic Preservation Commission. Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, Helen; two sons, Russell Larsen of St. Cloud, Minnesota and Ivan Glick of St. Petersburg, Florida; two daughters, Sandra Perry of San Jose, California and Vincene Glick of Baltimore, Maryland; his brother, Bernard Larsen of Massachusetts and two grandchildren, Steven and Stacey Perry, both of San Jose, California. Private cremation services were held. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg is serving the family. Service Information
