Jim Bottone 73, of Treasure Island passed peacefully after a 6 month battle with cancer at Palms of Pasadena Hospital on December 10, 2010 with his loving family by his side. Born in Chester PA, he graduated from La Salle University in 1959 with a BS in Marketing. He worked for ER Squibb in Washington DC and Virginia Beach, VA as a pharmaceutical representative before being promoted to VP of Marketing and Sales in their New Brunswick office. He then became VP of New Products and Acquisitions with Revlon in New York City and the family moved to Weston CT where they lived for 10 years before moving to Treasure Island, FL in 1980. He was the owner and President of International Business Resources, Inc. a consulting firm and Vice President and owner of JIT components until 2003. He was currently working along with his wife at Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara, his sons Peter Bottone, Tampa; James Bottone, Atlanta GA, Tom (Mindy) Bottone, Oxford CT. daughter Tracy Bottone, Atlanta GA. Five grandchildren Brittany, Lancaster Pa, Kristin, Tampa, Michael, Atlanta GA, Benjamin and Cassandra, Oxford CT; Mother, Josephine Bottone, Pinellas Park, FL, a brother, Bruce Bottone, Seminole, FL, sister Diane Costa (Ken) and niece Lisa Setaro, Treasure Island. He was predeceased by his father, James Anthony Bottone. A loving husband and father and adoring grandfather he was the rock of his family, and the center of his large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed by his many friends and remembered for the way he lit up a room and regaled people with his wonderful, funny stories. He loved tennis, fishing and screaming at the Buccaneers on Sunday, but his greatest pleasure was cooking gourmet meals for his family and many friends. He was a Cub Scout leader and baseball coach for many years in Connecticut and was loved as "Papa Pasta" because his home was always open to family and friends where he entertained all with plenty of love, food and laughter. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be 11AM Saturday, December 18, 2010 at David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg, where family will be receive friends from 10AM until service time.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Palms of Pasadena Hospital and Gulfcoast Oncology for the tender and considerate care they gave him and his family in his last days. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The American Bladder Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
