John Walter Engelke

ENGELKE, John W. 64, died Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Anthony's Hospital of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was born in Long Island, NY and came to Florida 20 years ago. He received a BA degree from Hofstra University and worked in Queens, NY, as a Supreme Court pre-sentencing probation officer. For the last 18 years, he worked as a certified addictions counselor for Operations Par. He enjoyed swimming, bike riding, walking and traveling. Those who knew and loved John will miss his engaging smile and off-beat sense of humor. He is survived by his partner of 36 years, Phillip Crow. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, Nov. 3, at Lakewood United Church of Christ, 2601 54th Ave. S, St. Petersburg.
