Mussie Eidelman
June 6, 1921 — January 9, 2018
Mussie Eidelman, 96, of St. Petersburg passed away on January 9, 2018.
Mussie was born in Romania and emigrated to the US along with her parents as an infant. She worked for many years as a cellist in the Youngstown Symphony before moving to St. Petersburg. Mussie was acclaimed as a brilliant performer as well as a beloved teacher. She had an outstanding academic background winning scholarships to the Julliard School of Music as well as the Eastman School of Music. Later, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education. While living in St. Petersburg, Mussie taught extensively at Gibbs High School as well as Eckerd College.
She was predeceased by her adoring husband Jack of 69 years. Mussie is survived by her loving family: sons, Dr. Michael (Leila) and Sylvan (Julie); daughter, Diane Eidelman (Nathan Baum); 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30, Thursday, January 11, at the Royal Palm Cemetery - South, 101 55th Street South, St. Petersburg.
Shiva Minyan will be held Thursday evening, January 11, at 6:30 pm at the home of Dr. Michael & Leila Eidelman, Marina Bay Unit #524, 8 Franklin Court South, St Petersburg, FL 33711
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mussie’s memory to Congregation B’nai Israel St. Petersburg.
David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family.
