R. David Wise
October 10, 1948 — November 27, 2006
Lovingly surrounded by his family, close friends and nurses from
Hospice of Florida Suncoast, R. David Wise of St. Petersburg,
Florida and Charlotte, Vermont died peacefully on Monday,
November 27th. His passing came at the end of a long illness. David
was preceded in death by his mother Katherine Wise and is survived
by his wife Lynda Stolzman of Florida and Vermont; his father
Walter R. (Dick) Wise and his brother John (husband of Liz) Wise of
Clearwater, Florida; his sister Kathy (wife of Russ) lrvine of Oviedo,
Florida; and eight nephews, three nieces, four grand-nephews and
one grand-niece.
Throughout his career spanning photography, graphic design,
copywriting, advertising and studio art, David continually astonished
family, friends and colleagues with the depth of his vision and the
breadth of his skills. For over twenty years David's business, Wise
Creative Services, continuously set the bar for creative excellence in
the world of publishing. Of him a colleague said, "David is not just
famous, David is legendary !"
In his personal relationships, David's effect was uniquely
transformational, brave and tender. While his departure leaves his
family, friends and colleagues sorrowful, we are grateful for David's
release from suffering and privileged to have shared in a lifetime of
extraordinary humanity.
Memorial Services will be noon Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Unitarian Universalist Church, 719 Arlington Avenue N., St. Petersburg, with Chaplain Jim Andrews officiating. Burial will be private.
