Robert J. Beyer

Rev. Dr. Robert J. Beyer, of Treasure Island, formerly of Neptune, NJ, died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 22 following a brief illness. Bob entered God’s gate with thanksgiving. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Schubert) Beyer; daughter, Beth (Beyer) Abbott; son-in-law, David K. Abbott; sister, Lois (Beyer) Huggins; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A graduate of Asbury College, Temple University School of Theology, and Drew University, Bob officially served the United Methodist Church for 43 years as a pastor, district superintendent, and conference administrator. He loved to travel, teach, and preach. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, Feb. 10 in the main sanctuary at Pasadena Community United Methodist Church, 227 70th St. S., St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bob’s memory to the church for their ministries at pasadenacommunitychurch.org.
