Sam B. Hicks

HICKS - Sam B. Jr., 91, of St. Petersburg, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg. He was born in Clearwater, Florida; graduated from St. Petersburg High School, and was a member of the Over-the-Hill gang. He owned and operated Sam Hicks & Son Used Cars for over forty years and was very active with the Used Auto Dealers Association of Florida. He worked as an attendant at John S. Rhodes Funeral Home and David C. Gross Funeral Home for several years. He, along with his late wife Mary, was a founding member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg. He was a member of the Squires Club and the Sunset Golf and Country Club. Survivors include three sons; John C. Hicks of Atlanta, Georgia; David H. Hicks of Sarasota, Florida and Charles M. Hicks of St. Petersburg, Florida; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Private cremation services were held with interment in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Garden. The family suggests memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers, to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 5420 Bay Center Drive, Tampa, Florida. David C.
