Sidney M. Goetz

Sidney M. Goetz, 94 passed away June 23, 2008 at Stratford Court in Palm Harbor. He was an attorney from Long Island, NY and retired to Florida in 1981. He was a professor at Stetson Law School and St. Pete Jr. College. Mr. Goetz was appointed to State Commissions on Child Support by Gov. Bob Graham and was a mediator in Florida circuit and county courts. He was founder of the Thomas Jefferson Societies which he organized in 1993. Mr. Goetz served as president of the South Pinellas Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State and served on their National Advisory Council. He was the recipient of the Civil Liberties Award from the ACLU. Mr. Goetz is survived by his wife, Miriam. There will be a memorial service June 28, 2008 at 3:00 PM at UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST UNITED FELLOWSHIP, 5721 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. David C. Gross Funeral Home is serving the family.
