Walter J. Powers

Powers - Walter J. Sr., 82, of Newport News, Virginia, formerly of St. Petersburg, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006 at his residence in Virginia. Born in Elkhart, Indiana, he came to Florida in 1965 from Omaha, Nebraska. He retired from the US Air Force having served in WW II and was a file clerk with the Department of Veteran's affairs at Bay Pines for ten years. He was Protestant. Survivors include one son, David (Dovie) of Newport News and three grandchildren. Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty and son. Walter Jr. Private burial services were held.David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg is serving the family.
