David Albert Weaver
December 15, 1945 — March 31, 2026
David Albert Weaver, 80, of Lynchburg, Virginia, died peacefully at his home on March 31, 2026, after along illness. He was the husband of Lynne Nancy Meyerhoff Weaver. Born on December 15, 1945, in Schenectady, New York, David was the son of the late Cornelius Albert Weaver and Helen Dopkowski Weaver. He was also predeceased by his sister, Helen Lois Persons.
Dave built a long career as a freight salesman in Upstate New York and was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, integrity, and the relationships he formed along the way. He honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, carrying out Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement operations on Lake Erie. He was always pleased and gratified in knowing that the missions he served on were credited with saving over 200 lives.
Dave was a man who found joy in simple things like bird watching, feeding the deer who visit his back yard daily, great music, cooking for his family, and dad jokes, just to name a few. As a skilled high-school drummer, he played in the band, orchestra, and Schenectady Symphony Orchestra. He treasured his friendships, some that spanned a lifetime. He had a deep love for the water, particularly boating in antique wooden speedboats, which he also expertly restored. Some of his happiest moments were spent at his family camp on Lake Champlain, in Willsboro, New York.
Dave’s greatest joy was his family. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who valued time together above all else. His warmth, steady presence, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him
In addition to his wife, Lynne, he is survived by his daughters, Carrie Anne Doherty (Sean) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Lisa Bishop (Jay Hermoso) of Williamsburg, Virginia; one stepdaughter, Nancy McAndrew of Lynchburg, Virginia; his grandchildren, Isobel Bishop Rowland (Travis), Kaycee, Caroline, Jake, and James Doherty, and Margaret McAndrew; his great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Katherine Rowland; Lynne Robbins, the mother of his daughters, and many loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of David’s life with Military Honors will be held Monday, May 11, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, Virginia, 23002.Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, Lynchburg, Virginia, is serving the family.
