Martin Theodore Schultz

12/2/49 – 7/8/25

Marty passed away peacefully in his sleep while in care at Valley Medical Center, Renton WA. He was being treated for kidney disease. He was aware of his condition and accepted it with grace. He shared his love of family and friends openly. He will be dearly missed.

He was born in Seattle in 1949 to Jack Charles Schultz and Mary Ellen (Whitman) Schultz. He graduated from Franklin HS in 1968 and completed 3 years of study at the University of Washington. After his studies, he spent most of his life in woodworking and furniture production. He worked at Sears and Magna Design Co. for many years.

Marty was a spiritual and fun loving soul. He was well-liked and never took himself too seriously and was easy to be around. He enjoyed reading and keeping up on current events. He loved taking pictures. He was generous always willing to give and had a great sense of humor. In our family, he was the highlight reel for creating laughter.

At Franklin High, he starred as a 3 year letterman in cross country and track and field and served as Co-captain of Franklin’s state championship teams in 1967 and 1968 (coached by the legendary Frank Ahern). In addition to long distance running, Marty enjoyed tennis, golf, basketball, hiking and camping and Saturday night poker games with friends and family.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Christine, Jack, and Jeanette. He is survived by his brothers Gary (Patty), James, Steven and sister, Judy Lewis (Randy). He is also survived by Connie Burton his x-wife. Though a short two year marriage, they remained close. They had no children.
