Vicki Jo Newton

February 27, 1953 — April 7, 2025

Vicki was born February 27, 1953, in Minot, North Dakota. She grew up in North Dakota and Montana before moving to Washington after high school. Vicki was a creative and gifted artist. She always had inspirations and ideas to work in various mediums, especially woodburning and beadwork. She created art while working a variety of jobs, including Tree farms, small business entrepreneur, Title Insurance and Customer Service.  She sold her art all along the West coast. Vicki felt most at home in the mountains and in the forest. Vicki shared a deep kinship with Bears and Eagles. She had many amazing encounters with these and other animals. She loved many ocean vacations on the Washington and Oregon coast. Vicki was an Organizer, both at home and in the community. She helped organize the very first Puyallup Farmers Market decades ago. She organized Freight House Square's first Pow Wow, working closely with local tribal dancers and drum groups, to make sure it was done in a Good Way. She was an avid reader. Vicki loved listening to all kinds of music and playing cards/games with family and friends. Vicki was a very kind, thoughtful and generous friend.

Vicki is survived by Lynn Hastler (spouse) and her adopted family, Chris and Joy Neville, nephews Ian Melville, Jeremy (Vanessa) LaGrave and the twins, D’Andre (Michelle) McPeters, brother-in-law Don Hastler (Dan Bergvik) and sister-in-law Kathie (Bob, deceased) DiGuardi, nephew Gino (Petra) DiGuardi and children, niece Nina (Vlad) Vasiliu, brother-in-law (Russ, deceased) Dee Hastler, niece Heather (Todd) Emery and son, nephew Derek (Kim) Hastler and daughters, and our good friend Lois Straight.
