Charlotte Anne Johnson
April 9, 1926 — March 27, 2019
Charlotte Anne Johnson, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Tacoma Lutheran Home.
She was born on April 9, 1926 in Centralia, WA to Vera and Charles Peters. In the late 1920's the family moved to Midland, WA where Charlotte grew up making lifelong friends that she remained in contact with throughout her lifetime. She also had one brother, Don Peters, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Peters of University Place, WA.
After graduating from Lincoln High School, Charlotte enrolled in the Federal Nursing Cadet Program. In 1947, she graduated from the School of Nursing at Seattle's Swedish Hospital as a registered nurse. As Charlotte started her nursing career, she worked at Tacoma General Hospital in obstetrics in private practice with Dr. H. Meier until he retired. Nursing always remained a large part of Charlotte's life. As she aged, her mind remained sharp and she was not at all hesitant to share her memories (and perhaps, advise) with the various nurses and medical team workers that helped care for her this past year.
Being a strong woman with a drive to work, a love for people, and a knack for organization, Charlotte decided to change career paths and she joined the Tupperware team. She excelled at being her own boss and quickly rose to the top becoming District Manager for many years. After retiring from Tupperware, CHarlotte's calendar remained full keeping up with family and making countless baby blankets for her grandkids. She could sew, knit, crochet, embroider, paint on canvas, and garden just to name a few of her hobbies. She also enjoyed getting together with friends to play pinochle, trips with tour groups, bingo, reading, and keeping up with technology. This past year she got a smart phone and kept it by her side, enlisting Siri for help when needed.
In 1948, Charlotte married Richard (Dick) Johnson. Dick proceeded her in death in 1987. Together they built their home in Lakewood, WA where they rased five ekids and where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Charlotte is survived by her 5 children: David Johnson of El Cajon, CA; Donald Johnson of Camano Island; Janis Johnson of Custer, WA; Rick Johnson (and Shanta Stevens) of Lakewood, WA; and Gayle JOhnson of Carnation, WA. She also had 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren all of which she was very proud to list, in order and by name, right up to her final days.
Per Charlotte's request, her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband's at Mountain View Memorial Park.
