Dan Mcinnis Davis Jr.

February 12, 1939 — August 14, 2024

Dan McInnis Davis, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Federal Way, Washington, at the age of 85. For 14 years Dan courageously persevered after suffering a stroke in 2010, and is once again reunited with his wife, Judie.

Dan was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on February 12, 1939, to Dan McInnis Davis and Marjorie Sellars Davis. He was the second child of four children. Dan led a life characterized by kindness, service, friendship, and dedication to his family.

When Dan was two, the family relocated to Lebanon, Oregon, and then in 1946 they moved again, and settled in Dorris, California where Dan graduated from Butte Valley high school in 1957. Dan was athletic, and at 6’4”, he was the star on the varsity basketball team. Dan enjoyed the outdoors, and had a love for hunting and fishing, but Dan’s passion was fishing, which became his life-long hobby.

Following high school, he proudly served his country as a Dental Assistant in the U.S. Navy, a testament to his unwavering commitment to helping others. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Dan worked as a dental assistant where he met the love of his life, Judie Allen, while working at the same dental office. Dan & Judie were married April 22, 1962.

For over 30 years, Dan worked in the grocery industry in various capacities until he retired as a Checker/Receiver. Dan was a hard worker, and due to his determination and work ethic, he earned the respect of his supervisors and co-workers, and was often referred to as “Dan the Man”.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Dan served faithfully in several roles over the years. He found particular joy working with the children in the nursery, where his kind and energetic spirit could shine. His faith (along with his wife Judie) provided him with direction throughout his life.

Dan had a remarkable ability to make friends easily and maintained a reputation as a hardworking man. His greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. He held

a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to his life.

Dan is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judie Davis, his parents Dan & Marjorie, his step-father Harold, and his sister Patricia Morse.

Dan is survived by his loving children: Brian Davis (Pam), Nancie Davis, Dani Davich (Jeff), and Charli Davis; his brother, Richard Davis (Linda); and sister, June Babraitis. Dan's legacy extends through his doting grandchildren: Cassie Davis, Jake Davis, Maggie Sterling (Ryan), Daniel Breitmayer, Amber Breitmayer, Nikki Rogers, Alli Ulrich (Dave), Mark Rogers, Lauren Rogers, Jordan Rogers (Tristan), Braden Rogers, Stevi Sobczyk (Martin), Kyli Pierce, and Brenden Pierce, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Dan will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing, popping popcorn and enjoying it with his grandchildren, happily lending a helpful hand to others and whistling as he went about his day, and relaxing in the recliner while watching sports and taking an afternoon nap—a man of simple pleasures who found joy in the everyday moments. His energetic, resilient, kind, and friendly nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A memorial service to honor Dan’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 7115 224th Avenue NE, Redmond, WA.

Dan's family invites those who knew him to come and celebrate a life well-lived, to share memories, and to bid a loving farewell to a remarkable man who will be deeply missed.
