Gerald "Jerry" Horace Simpson

Gerald H. Simpson, 88, of Copperopolis, CA, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023, at an assisted-living facility in Cameron Park, CA. He was born at home in Bucksport, Maine, on October 31, 1934, the son of Adam and Lela (Kelso) Simpson. He graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1953 and then served 8 years in the United States Marines Corp, traveling all over the world. He was later employed at the paper mill (St. Regis & Champion) in Bucksport, ME for over 20 years before starting a new life in California.
He was predeceased by his wife Lee Simpson, as well as his parents, his siblings Phil and Joan and a stepson, Kenneth Anton. He is survived by his daughter Heidi Vares (husband Shannon) of Placerville, CA, and a son Eric Simpson of Bucksport, ME. He is also survived by a stepdaughter Kathy Medeiros of Fairview, OR; grandchildren Kayla Vares of Santa Cruz, CA and Hannah Vares of Placerville, CA, as well as Gabriel Medeiros (wife Lauren) of Lake Forest, CA, Miles Medeiros (wife Ravyn) of Portland, OR, Kelsey Medeiros of Denver, CO.
