Obituary for Thomas Vincent Gandera

Thomas Vincent Gandera, 72, of Somerset, California, went home to be with Jesus on June 12, 2026.

Born on August 30, 1953, Tom was the son of Theodore and Dolly Ann Gandera. He dedicated more than 25 years of his career to the Laborers’ Union, working in oil refineries, as a lineman, and in construction, faithfully providing for his family.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, chopping wood, walking and driving through the forest, tinkering in his shop, serving alongside his church family, and making memories with those he loved. His twinkling eyes, warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering encouragement will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patty Gandera; his children, Ginetta Goodwin (Jerry), Amanda Gandera (Bill), and Anthony Gandera (Carole); his grandchildren, Cassie, Kari, Caleb, Ranay, and Isabella; and his great-grandson, Hudson. He is also survived by his siblings, Loretta Degan (Larry) and Bill Gandera (Wynn).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Dolly Ann Gandera, and his brothers, Jim and Leo Gandera.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at New Life Sutter Creek Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations to the New Life Sutter Creek Children’s Ministry.

Tom’s legacy of kindness, wisdom, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.
