Dorothy Ann (Erickson) Baderman

Dorothy Ann (Erickson) Baderman was born in Aitkin, MN, on August 9, 1934, to Rev. Daniel and Esther (Vall) Erickson.  During her childhood, she and her three older sisters lived in Brooklyn, NY, Minneapolis, MN, and Cordova, AK. Dorothy attended Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, Seattle Pacific College, and Lutheran Bible School. Dorothy moved to Syracuse, NY, where she met Alfred Baderman and they were married within the year. They had three children: Daniel, Lori, and Kari. Dorothy and Al met at church in Syracuse.  They were married in 1957, and moved to Roanoke, VA, where Al was the Youth For Christ Director. After a year, they moved to MN where Al attended seminary. Together they served their first church in Stockholm, WI. Their ministry took them to Westby WI, Frontier, SK, Canada, and then back to MN and ND.  Throughout her working career, Dorothy held jobs as a secretary, helping to financially support their family. Dorothy and Al eventually moved to AZ in 1988 where Al served as Chaplain at Mesa Christian Care Center. Dorothy made many friends there and played piano for Lost Dutchman RV Park Church, and for the Sing-Along in her retirement community. Dorothy loved to socialize and entertained friends and large groups for meals at their home often.  Her strong faith in God and dedication to family guided her decisions in life.  Much of Dorothy’s life was spent working with her church community to share God’s love with others. Dorothy was reunited with Al at Heaven’s Gate on December 21, 2024. He had been called home by the Lord in 2015. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Barbara) of NM; Lori (Mike) Bell and grandchildren Hayden, Kendra, and Derek of WI; Kari (Jerry) of AZ.
