Mark Eugene West

Mark was born on July 31,1947 in Richmond, IN, yet he always considered himself a Florida boy at heart. Mark was a successful man in his life and throughout his impressive career and with his family.

Mark started in the Navy, and was assigned to the Marine Corps. He did three tours in Vietnam and from there, went into intelligence work after enlisting in the Air Force and continued to have a highly decorated career.

While stationed in Hawaii, Mark married his first wife Caroline Galanza. They were married forty years, and raised two children, Connie Jo and Mark Allen, moving to many places in the U.S. and Philippines before he and Caroline settled in Florida. Upon Caroline's passing, Mark moved to Marietta, GA to be closer to his daughter, Connie Jo and her family. Mark was active in Saint Ann's Catholic Church, becoming a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and volunteered in his community. It was at St. Ann's that he met Maureen Ryan.

Maureen and Mark eventually moved to North Port, FL and were married on December 9, 2023. His generous spirit continued at San Pedro Catholic Church and the with the Knights. Mark and Maureen started a Widow and Widowers group and have been active in their neighborhood community, volunteering and enjoying the numerous events they helped plan.

He is survived by his wife Maureen Ryan, his children Connie Jo (Kurt) and Mark Allen

(Courtney), step children Dan (Holly) and Alicia. He is also survived by his brothers Jack (Grace), Michael (Robin), and David Lee. Siblings Paul Darren and Pamela Jean predeceased him. He was loved by his granddaughter Rachel and grandson Alexander (deceased). He is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as sisters and brothers in law and will be greatly missed by all who he impacted.

Services for Mark will be on Monday, July 29th from 2-4 pm at Farley's Funeral Home in North Port. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at San Pedro's Catholic Church in North
