Richard G. Figurniak
Aug 1, 1932 — Jun 24, 2026
Richard G. Figurniak, born on August 1, 1932 in Zloczow, Ukraine, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026 in Venice, Florida, at the age of 93. His remarkable life journey, defined by resilience, dedication, and profound love, leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Richard was born to Jan and Sophie Figurniak in Zloczow, Ukraine. Amidst the changing tides of the twentieth century, he showed strength early in life, ultimately leaving Ukraine in 1956 to go to Poland for his education. He then left for United States in search of greater opportunity and a new beginning. This decision would shape not only his own destiny, but also that of his growing family.
Pursuing his passion, Richard built a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer. For 20 years, he contributed his talent and diligence to Sargeant & Lundy in Chicago. His meticulous work ethic, attention to detail, and integrity earned the respect of colleagues as well as lifelong friendships.
Richard’s life was enriched further through the unwavering companionship of his beloved wife, Wladyslawa. Their steadfast union spanned five decades—a testament to love and commitment. Together, they raised their son, Adam Figurniak, who survives him.
Upon retiring, Richard and Wladyslawa ultimately settled in North Port, where they found tranquility in their well-deserved retirement years. Deeply involved in his faith, Richard was guided by spiritual conviction and found joy and solace in his beliefs.
Richard’s life touched many, and he is remembered as deeply loved and greatly missed by his wife Wladyslawa, his son Adam, and the many extended family members and friends whose lives were brightened by his presence. His is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
