Richard John Luecht

Born 1/2/1957 in Waukegan, IL

Died 4/27/2026 in Port Charlotte, FL

Richard was a loving husband to his wife Maria A Muse, a caring father figure to Robert and Mario

Barahona and a 20 year navy veteran. Richard graduated from the University Phoenix and worked

as a science teacher in Jacksonville after he retired from his Navy Service. He enjoyed playing Golf and

riding his bicycle. He loved Music and was an avid dancer. Richard was a long time resident of

Jacksonville and a jaguars fan. Richard fought a courageous fight with cancer which

eventually shortened his life. Richard and his wife Maria enjoyed a cruise to Mexico and a trip to

Germany in November of 2025 which included meeting Maria's family, a boat trip on the Rhine River and a 

scenic drive enjoying the view of several German castles. Richard was proceeded in death by his parents

Richard A and Stella M Luecht, his grandparents, his cousin Garry Luecht, and other family members.

A committal service will be held on  Tuesday, May 5th, at 12:30 pm located at  Sarasota National Cemetery with Navy Military Honors present.
