Daphnie M. Forbes
January 26, 1933 — July 11, 2015
Daphnie was born on December 26th. 1932 in St. James, Jamaica West Indies to Wesley Rose and Daisy Gordon. She was a third generation Seventh Day Adventist. This early God centered training motivated her love for God and the church, which Daphnie dedicated her life to.
In the late fifties Daphnie relocated to London, England where she was trained as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a mid-wife for some years. In England she met and courted Roy Ranford Forbes. In March, 1965 they were married. and from this union there were three children. Lloyd George Washington, Cheryl Antoinette and Paul Anthony.
In 1967 Daphnie moved to the U.S after being recruited by Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. She was joined by the family in 1968. The family lived in Bronx, NY and found a church home at the 5th Ave SDA church in Mount Vernon, NY. This church later became the Mount Vernon SDA Church. Daphnie was a dedicated member of the church serving as a choir member and several other capacities including Sabbath School Supt, Nursing Guild, etc. throughout the years.
In 1996 Daphnie retired from the Veterans Administration where she worked for 17 years. She relocated to North Port, Florida where she became a faithful member at the North Port SDA Church. She sang in the choir and served different positions in the church.
In 2008, Daphnie began having medical and physical issues which confined her to a wheelchair. During this time she continued to smile and served the lord. She would have her wheelchair rolled up to the podium so she could still sing with the choir.
On July 11, 2015 the Lord saw the road was getting rough, the hills were getting steeper. God closed her eyes for a little while and whispered it won't be long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandchild (Mark Roberts Jr.). She is survived by her three children Lloyd, Cheryl and Paul, nine grandchildren Tanisha Roberts, Philisha Roberts, Antwon Roberts, Eboni Forbes, Christofer Forbes and Quamar Forbes, Kenya Forbes, Amber Forbes and Joseph Forbes, five great-grandchildren Isayah Forbes, Shaniya Sawh, Kayla Forbes, Quamar Forbes Jr. , Kailyn Willis; aunt Winniefred Campbell and several cousins in the Campbell and Hall family also a host of friends and church family.
