Floyd Melton Key

Floyd Melton Key, age 84, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Pinebrook Rehabilitation Facility in Venice, Florida. Floyd was born in Jackson, TN, the son of Henry and Gracie (Jackson) Key. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy, children David, Kathy (Andy) Hendricks of Englewood, FL and Sandra Neahusan of Venice, FL. He is also survived by brother Robert (LaDonna) Key of Owosso, Michigan. He is survived by eight grand children and several great-grandchildren. Floyd especially enjoyed spending time with his great-grandson, Tyler, always enjoying their frequent visits together. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William, Verdell, and Alvie; and sisters Mary Ruth, Helen and Josephine. Floyd retired from the City of Flint, Michigan, Water Department. He served his Lord in many capacities, working in church as song leader, Awana worker and was active in the Shut-in ministry. He had a song for every occasion, and loved singing hymns until his physical incapacities made it difficult. He is not held to those restrictions anymore and is free to worship God in voice once more. If you touched his life, rest assured he never forgot you. And if he touched your life, you will never forget him. The family wishes to thank the staff of Pinebrook Rehab Facility and Tidewell Hospice for their caring attention to Floyd's needs over the past year. A memorial service is planned for Monday, February 15, 2016 at Colonial Baptist Church, 2400 Taylor Ranch Road, Venice Florida 34293. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, with memorial service at 11 AM.
