Harriette L. Reed, age 88, of Osprey, FL died on November 22, 2015. She was born on February 10, 1927 in Palmyra, and came to Osprey in 1978.
She will be remembered as a devoted mother and homemaker. Harriette was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church Past Matron of the Eastern Star, and a volunteer at Venice Hospital.
Surviving family members include her daughters Deborah Beebe (Larry) of Nokomis, FL, Lynette M. O'Neill of Nokomis, FL and Patricia D. Reed of Nokomis, FL; son Steven W. Reed of Blissfield, MI; sister Katharine DeGroot; grandchildren Michelle Flynn (Ron) of North Port, FL, Nicole O'Neill of North Port, FL, Steven Reed (Ashley) of Perrysburg, OH, Michael Reed (Jamie) of Bedford, TX, and Andrew Reed of Belleville, MI, and great grandchildren Brady Flynn and Lukas Flynn, both of North Port, FL.
Harriette was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, of 54 years; parents Edgar and Louise Calkins; daughter Kathy Sherwin; brother John Richard Calkins and sisters Helen Lucy Calkins and Marian Ehlert.
Visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home, Venice, on Sunday, November 29th from 2 - 5:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 30th at 10 AM with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society of South Sarasota County or to Tidewell Hospice.
