Heidemarie Hemmert

May 26, 1944 — April 23, 2017

Heidemarie Hemmert, 72, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, in her home in Venice, Florida, surrounded by her husband Klaus, and all of her three children, Andrea, Sven, and Stephanie. She was born in Helmstedt, Germany. Her parents Elfriede and A. Scheck preceded her. Prior to moving to Florida as a permanent resident in 2001, Heidi resided in Parsippany, New Jersey. Heidi was a homemaker, volunteered in her children's schools, and for many years served as treasurer to Hemmert International Corporation. Heidi was an avid swimmer, reader, and loved to sew clothes for her children and grandchildren. She liked to take her loyal dog, Lucky, to the Venice dog beach and during the summer months on long walks on the family farm in upstate New York. Heidi was very thankful for the cancer research performed by 1931 Nobel Prize winner Dr. Warburg and Dr. Budwig's research dating back to the 1950s, which in addition to her local oncologist Dr. Orman and Glens Falls, New York oncologist Dr. Stoutenburg and their staffs extended her life after diagnosis for almost 13 years. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Klaus; daughter Andrea and husband Uwe Jacobs; son Sven and wife Sue-Ellen; daughter Stephanie Hemmert and husband Walter Argandoña; brother Juergen Scheck and wife Karin; brother Joachim Scheck-Gruening and wife Gaby; sister-in-law, neighbor, and close friend Ingrid Tazelaar and husband George; grandchildren Kevin, Lily, Michelle, Walter, and Ricardo; niece and nephews Nicole, Marc, Jay D, and Max. Inurnment will take place in private at Venice Memorial Gardens.
