James I. Morgan
Jul 1, 1923 — Mar 24, 2016
James Irenaeus (Jim) Morgan, age 92, formerly of Kenosha and Hales Corners (Milwaukee), Wisconsin, died on March 24, 2016. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years, Lois Berres Morgan. Celebration of life to be held at St. Mary's Faith Community, Hales Corners, WI at a later date. Inurnment next to Lois will follow in the family plot in St. George Cemetery overlooking Lake Michigan in Kenosha, WI.
Welch tradition promises a wonderful life for one having initials spelling his nickname. More wonderful life came from his namesakes: ""James"" (brother of Jesus); ""Irenaeus"" (noted 2nd Century Persian Christian leader); and Morgan (4th Century) Wales.
Survivors include daughters Kathryn (James) St. Clair of Venice, FL; Jane (Keith) Nosbusch of Mequon, WI; Patricia Morgan of Lake Wylie, SC; and sons James P. Morgan (Elizabeth) of Reedsburg, WI; and John Morgan (Judith) of Greenfield, WI; grandchildren: Christopher St. Clair; Erin Morgan Nunez (Raul); Carolyn Nosbusch Rebholz (Matthew); David Nosbusch; Becky Morgan Pan (Ted); Stefanie Morgan Lindner (Ryan); Laurie Nosbusch, and Lynsey Morgan Erlitz (Greg); and great-grandchildren Katrina, Christian and Maxwell St. Clair, Adrian and Elena Nunez, and Cory Matthew Lindner.
Also survived by his sister, Bernadette (Bill) Loewen, Kenosha, WI; sisters-in-law Lorraine Berres (the late William) Wettengel), Arlington, TX; and brothers-in-law Eugene (Lois) Berres, Rock Hill, SC, and Gerald (Marlene) Berres, Miramir Beach, FL.; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Barbara Ann Harris, Venice, FL.
He was preceded in death by life-giving parents, Francis I. and Katherine (Grube) Morgan, sisters Rosemary and Mary Halmo (Louis), brother-in-law, Robert Lasky, and sister-in-law, Imelda Bonnell (Blair), Kenosha, WI.
Morgan was a graduate of Marquette University College of Engineering, a Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin, and a member of many local, national and international business and professional organizations. He received many awards and retired at age 65 after a 23 year career as President/CEO of the National Fluid Power Association and simultaneously, for 18 years, Secretary of the Geneva-based International Technical Committee for Fluid Power.
Morgan was a decorated veteran of the Normandy invasion with the Army Corps of Engineers. After victory in Europe, his reassignment to the Pacific theater was scuttled by Japan's surrender. He was an active member of Tuckaway Country Club and St. Mary's Faith Community in Hales Corners (Milwaukee), WI and The Plantation Golf and Country Club and Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL. Besides family, his hobbies included golf, global travel, genealogy, and the pipe organ.
The celebration of life continues through the richness and harmonics of the Epiphany Cathedral bells, partially funded through a gift from the Morgan Family Charitable Trust. Memorial contributions may be made to Epiphany Cathedral Music Fund, 350 Tampa Avenue West, Venice, FL 34285. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
