Lawrence David "Larry" Bedard
June 9, 1937 — April 27, 2014
Lawrence David ""Larry"" Bedard, 76, of Venice, FL, formerly of Fallston, MD, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2014. Originally from North Adams, MA, he is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Bedard, sisters Jeannine Bisson, Jacqueline Avis, and Joan Bedard, with many loved nieces and nephews.
Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps, followed by four years at the University of Miami and graduated with a B.S. in Science. For 30 years Larry was employed by the U.S. Government and worked as a Mathematician for the Department of the Army at Edgewood Arsenal, MD, retiring in 1994.
After retirement, Larry moved to Venice, Fl. and immersed himself into the community. He was an entrepreneur managing the downtown bait shop. The bait shop was one of his many joys. It gave him so much happiness that it allowed him to give back to his community building the boardwalk for the private residents of Gulf Manor Drive. The boardwalk, which is still there today, has provided the residents easy access to the beach. He also built a deck offering the best seats to watch the sunset over the gulf.
As the baby of the family, Larry possessed a passion for life and love for his family and friends. He was a key organizer of the family re-unions and established many of the family traditions during those re-unions. He loved the game of golf, the joy of cooking, enjoyed organizing picnics and relaxed to a great movie every night.
