Margaret T. Cantanno

Margaret T. Cantanno of Venice, FL passed away on May 15, 2026. Beloved wife of Alexander for almost 65 years, loving mother of Peter (husband of Maryellen), James (husband of Kathryn), John (husband-to-be of Lisa), Anne (wife of Peter), and youngest daughter Theresa. Proud grandmother of Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Michelle, Daniel Thomas, Daniel John, Alex, Aidan, Hannah, Fin, Eli, and Colin. Loving sister of Kathleen and the late Edward.

Margaret had a successful career as a math teacher before marrying the love of her life Alexander. She raised her five children on Long Island, NY before moving to Venice in 1996 where she made a beautiful home for the last 30 years. She was an avid Catholic Daughter for her time on Long Island and a member of the Council of Catholic Women in Florida. She was also intimately involved in her Epiphany Cathedral parish where she established many wonderful friendships.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday May 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at Epiphany Cathedral.  Burial will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Affinity Care of Sarasota or the Epiphany Cathedral School.
