Marvin Graham Menefee

Marvin Graham Menefee was born on January 14, 1920 in Perry, MO, the son of Allan K. Menefee and Lilian L. Costigan. He had an interesting life with the variety of jobs that he held. He drove a cattle truck, worked in a glove factory, worked in the oil fields and as a coal miner and owned a grocery store. In addition to working for the Advance Rowe Distributing firm, he owned a vending business and worked as a carpenter for several years. His work with wood led to his hobby of woodworking after his retirement as superintendent of St. John's Cemetery in Collinsville, Illinois. He moved to Nokomis, Florida in 1986. He was married to Marie McCallister in 1939. She preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Margaret Griffin Rau Svereika in 1996. He is survived by two daughters, Marcia (Larry) Berkel of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Linda (James) Lammers of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren and fifteen grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 920 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, Florida 34285.
