Mary Elizabeth Fiato Rogers, age 57, of Venice, FL, died on February 18, 2011. She was born in Herkimer, NY on January 13, 1954 to Rocco Joseph and Rose Mary Mammone Fiato. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Venice; brothers Rocco A. (Marcia) of Basking Ridge, NJ, Francis (Barbara) of Herkimer, NY, Joseph (Melanie) of Bonita Beach, FL, and Alex (Beth) of Fort Wayne, IN; mother and father in-law Mary and Harry Bynum Rogers, Jr. of Winston Salem, NC; in-laws Trish (Larry) Adams, Alyce Rogers, Michael (Betty) Rogers, Bryan (Louanne) Rogers; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary graduated from South Florida School of Floral Design. She and Richard owned and operated Mary’s Flowers and Pastries in Morehead City, NC, and she also taught floral design classes at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston Salem, NC. She loved flowers and wanted to be surrounded by them. For the past three years, Mary and Richard have operated Comforcare Senior Services, a home health agency in Venice. Mary was a member of the Venice Garden Club and Chair for the Butterflies Committee. Mary also served on the Chamber of Commerce’s Senior Outreach Committee. She was an avid volunteer and always there to help. She loved reading, the beach, sunsets, shelling, traveling to new places, and meeting new people. Mary added humor to everything she did to uplift people. When she wasn’t with friends, she enjoyed quiet time with her cat Meechee. She also put a lot of love into the food she was well-known for. She served as a church youth group leader and although she had no children of her own, she was a mother figure to many.
