Philip Cogan Waterman, of Venice, FL, formerly of Shelburne, VT, passed away January 10, 2010. Phil was born on April 18, 1929 in New York City. Upon his graduation from Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmittsburg, MD in 1951, Phil was drafted into the Marine Corp, served in the Korean Conflict, and achieved the rank of Captain. Starting at J. Walter Thompson Advertising, his career spanned account management, national television sales, and local television station management. He retired in 1988 from WCAX-TV in Burlington, VT, after 23 years as Vice President and General Sales Manager. He is survived by his wife Ann (FitzGerald), Sons Philip (Sheri), Robert (Kelly), Kenneth, Michael, and daughter Janice Cohen (Bill), as well as nine grandchildren, Cogan and Conner Ann, Sara and Nick, Sean, Ryan, and Erin, Jack and Julia Cohen. A memorial mass will be held at Epiphany Cathedral Thursday, January 14, at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in his memory can be made to Lighthouse for the Blind at Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind, 1106 W. Platt Street, Tampa, Florida 33606. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida is handling the arrangements.
