Raymond S. Montgomery

Raymond S. ""R.S."" Montgomery, 78, of Venice, FL, died on September 23, 2014. R.S. was born on March 10, 1936 in Osprey, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany for 7 ½ years in the 1950's. He was Owner and Operator of a construction and site development company. R.S. was an avid coon hunter his entire life and enjoyed nothing more than his beloved coon hounds that he raised. After retiring, he loved tinkering around and working on old tractors and farm equipment. He won several awards for his walker coon hounds. He was owner of Gatorland Kennels and member of the American Coonhound Association. Survivors include his wife, Iris, of Venice, FL; sons David of Arcadia, FL, Vernon of Texas, and Dennis ""Hoss"" of Arcadia, FL; daughters Terri ""Missy"" Bailey of Venice, FL and Callie Wallace of Venice, FL; son Cliff ""Bubba"" Wallace, Jr. of Venice, FL; sister, Mildred Young of Venice, FL; brother, David Montgomery of Apopka, FL; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gordon, daughter, Diane ""Sissy"" Inman, and one grandson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27th from 11AM-1PM at Farley Funeral Home Venice Chapel.
