Virginia Rita Carr
December 25, 1928 - May 18, 2025
Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the age of 96. Ginny
was born on Christmas Day, 1928 in Ligonier, PA to Venetta and Amadeo Virgili.
She was one of 11 siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. After her high
school graduation, she moved to Chicago where she met and married the love of
her life Joseph Carr. Sadly, he died in 2008.
Ginny and Joe raised three children: Steven (Meg) Carr, Deborah (Dominick)
Adducci, and Laura (Bob) Herrod, all surviving. They are also survived by ten
grandchildren: Steven (Bridget) Carr, Amanda (Jim) Pherson, Mike (Tamara)
Adducci, Tom (Ashton) Adducci, Mabel (Sarah) Carr, Mary (Jeff) DeBoer, John
(Tatsiana) Adducci, Dan (Emily) Adducci, Joe (Lindsey) Herrod, and Pat (Kellie)
Herrod. Additionally, Ginny was blessed with 14 great grandchildren.
She was always there with love and support for her family and friends. Ginny was
an active volunteer at St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic Church in Chicago. She
attended daily mass and volunteered at the school office. Once her children were
older, she and her husband moved to Palos Hills, IL where Ginny was employed at
Moraine Valley Community College as the administrative assistant for the
Industrial Engineering Technology Program.
Later, they moved to Indiana, and she joined St. Patrick’s Church in Chesterton,
where she led the rosary daily before attending mass. She was known for having
her prayers answered, so much so, that family and friends often asked her to
intercede for special causes. She also served food at the church’s “ Table of Plenty”
for those in need.
She enjoyed celebrating life events by sending cards and gifts to family and
friends, walking for exercise, playing cards (especially bridge and euchre),
spending time with loved ones at holidays and get togethers, traveling, and dancing
at her grandchildren’s weddings.
