Everardo C. Gonzalez Sr.

March 31, 1941 — July 6, 2025

Everardo Gonzalez, 84, of Marsing, passed away of natural causes, peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Marsing, Idaho.

Everardo was born on March 31, 1941, in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico. He married the love of his life, Hortencia Gonzalez, and they were together for 62 years. In 1963, they migrated to the United States, where they raised their family in the state of Idaho.

His love for Mexico never faded. Every chance he had, he returned to visit—and when he was here, he longed to go back. He was a generous man who helped many people. He delighted in the simplest things, like having family over to watch classic Mexican movies and listen to music.

He loved dogs deeply. After losing his last one, he said he could never have another because the loss was too painful. Everardo had a great sense of humor, and his laughter was contagious.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hortencia Gonzalez. As her health declined, he remained faithfully by her side—often driving every day for months to visit her in the rehab center—until her passing in December of 2022.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, José and Odilia; his brothers, Jesús, José, and Esmerardo; his sister, Irma; and his granddaughter, Vanessa.

He is survived by his children: Everardo Jr. (Rachel), Guillermo Sr., Griselda (Leonardo Sr.), Arnoldo Sr. (Mary Jo), Alejandro, and Guillermo Jr. (Ana). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Krystal, María de Jesús, Leonardo Jr., Orlando, Arnoldo Jr., Nikki, Mikaila, Mariah, and Marcos.

Everardo is survived by his siblings: Raúl, Rubén, Blanca, Guadalupe, and Ana.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00pm with Rosary Recital will begin at 7:00pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.  Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Caldwell.
