Guy J. Cooper
Sep 8, 1938 — Jul 6, 2026
Guy J. Cooper, 87, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 6, 2026, passing peacefully at his home in Homedale, Idaho, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 8, 1938, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, to Ernest Guy Cooper and Anna E. Waldric Cooper. Guy was one of ten children and treasured the lifelong bond he shared with his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sister, Norma Shives of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Guy lived a life marked by steadfast faith, humble service, and unwavering love for his family. His greatest desire was to honor God in the way he lived, worked, and cared for those around him. He found strength and purpose in his relationship with Jesus Christ, and his life was a testimony of faithfulness, kindness, and quiet integrity.
A proud United States Army veteran, Guy faithfully served his country with honor before dedicating his life to his family and his faith.
Since 1975, Guy was a faithful member of the Bible Missionary Church in Homedale, Idaho. His church family became an extension of his own, and he loved worshiping, serving, and encouraging others in their walk with the Lord. His unwavering trust in God’s promises gave him peace throughout his life and comfort in his final days.
Guy shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Barbara A. Cooper. Together they built a home centered on faith, love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion and God’s enduring grace.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara A. Cooper, and his six children: Danny Cooper; Christi Holmes and her husband, David Holmes; Holly Quebodeaux; Norine Cooper; and Brad Cooper and his wife Pamala Cooper. He was a devoted grandfather to 16 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to 24 great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest earthly blessing, and nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with those he loved.
Though his family grieves his earthly absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Guy is now at home with the Lord. The promise found in Scripture sustained him throughout his life:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Guy will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast faith, quiet strength, love for his family, willingness to serve, and the Christlike example he left for generations to follow. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved and in the faith he faithfully passed down.
The family finds comfort in the words of Jesus: “Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1-3
Until that joyful reunion in Heaven, Guy’s memory will be treasured, his example honored, and his faith remembered with gratitude.
