Duke [Leonard Wears], of Kenneth City, Florida, passed away on July 1st, 2025. Born on October 23,1951 in Columbus, Ohio, Duke was known for his thoughtful, kind, and caring nature. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Ida, with whom he shared a loving 48-year marriage. Duke was a man of many talents, including a gift for drawing cartoons and a deep love of history, especially World War I and II. He could tell a captivating story and was always ready with a joke or witty comment to brighten the room.
An avid reader, Duke spent hours immersed in his favorite books, particularly those about history and sports. He was well-loved by everyone who knew him, thanks to his generous spirit, warm heart, and quick smile. He considered everyone a friend and was known for his deep sense of kindness and generosity, particularly when it came to helping family, friends, and neighbors with his construction and maintenance expertise.
Duke’s absolute favorite pastime was following his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. He never missed an opportunity to greet fellow fans with an enthusiastic "O-H!"
He is survived by his wife, Ida, His daughter, Michelle, his grandchildren, Brodie, Alyssa and Bentley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced.
