Vicki Hannah
Sep 18, 1962 — May 26, 2011
Hannah, Vicki Lee, 48, departed this earth after a long, courageous battle with cancer on May 26, 2011. Vicki was born September 18, 1962, in Portsmouth Ohio, to Wayne and Timpin Shirlene (Lewis).
Vicki was a 1980 graduate from Greenup County High School in Greenup, Kentucky where she was well known and loved by everyone and was a National Championship Cheerleader. Vicki was also a graduate of Shawnee State University in Porthsmouth, Ohio where she obtained degrees in business and accounting. Vicki was attending University of Phoenix working to obtain her Master’s Degree in Accounting at the time of her death.
She is survived by two children, Brittany Horton and Taylor Hannah; three nephews; numerous aunts and uncles and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Shirlene, as well as both sets of grandparents. She was blessed with countless friends, some lifelong and some she had met just recently. She had an impact on everyone she met because of her generous soul and happy spirit. Her kindness and compassion will live on in all of our hearts.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will take place at South Shore Park in South Shore, Kentucky at 3 pm on Sunday, June 19. There will be a picnic following a small message and balloon release. Please bring a covered dish and non-alcoholic beverages. Contact Theresa at [email protected] for more information. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Theresa (Stephens) Gilmartin to place into a trust fund for Taylor Hannah.
God's Garden
God looked around his garden and found an empty place
He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest
With the help of his angels they flew you to your heavenly place
Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best
He knew you were suffering, he knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb
He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be Thine"
It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you the day God called you home

“At first, the angels stood behind her bed guarding her every breath. Later, when her breath began to fade, the angels hovered above her, gently lifting her spirit into the heavenly hands of God.” Author Unknown
