David R. Hancock passed away December 31, 2019 in Lacey, Washington, his home of five years. He was born December 9, 1939 to Ardale Scott in Detroit, Michigan. Dave graduated high school in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He served his country proudly for 32 years from 1957 to 1990. This includes 10 years in the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany and Korea on the DMZ, and 22 years in the Army National Guard. Professionally, he was an Electronic Technician for Aberdeen Office Equipment, where he retired in 1999. Dave earned his BA in Theology from Salt Lake Baptist Church at age 76. He married Elva Ricketts on September 30, 1961 in Parkland, Washington. They raised their family in Puyallup and, in retirement, moved to North Port, Florida, in 2003. They returned to Lacey in 2014. Dave was a history buff. He enjoyed guns, photography, ghost towns, and was always tinkering around in his shop. He was a member of VFW in Aberdeen, Washington, and Temple Baptist Church in Lacey. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elva Hancock; son, David Hancock; daughters, Kimberly Iverson, Claudia Gilmer and Debbie Gibson; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and brothers, Danny Hancock, Jim Scott and Eddie Scott. He was predeceased by his mother; sister, Joyce Scott; brothers, Michael and Joseph Scott; and grandparents, Mildred and Claude Bush. Services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, 3:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 3806 College St. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
