Woodrow Melvin Wiedrich

Woodrow “Woody” Melvin Wiedrich, 78, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 17, 2026.

Woody was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose colorful personality and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Rose Bartucca Wiedrich; his children, Justin Wiedrich (Monique), Christi Ray (Bryan), Jared Wiedrich, and Jason Wiedrich; and his cherished grandchildren, Malia Rose Wiedrich, Gracie “Bird” Ray, Cody Ray, and Jacob Wiedrich. He is also survived by his sister, Myra Marie Brown (Bill).

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Guenthner Wiedrich and Melvin John Wiedrich, and by his younger brother, Dean Wiedrich.

Woody dedicated 43 years of service to the United States Postal Service. During the latter half of his distinguished career, he proudly served as Postmaster of Tenino, Washington, where he became well known and respected throughout the community.

Although medical reasons prevented him from serving in the military, few men loved their country more deeply. His patriotism was evident in both his convictions and his daily life. Often dressed in red, white, and blue, Woody was frequently mistaken for a veteran and wore those patriotic colors with pride.

In recent years, Woody’s greatest passion was sharing the message of Jesus Christ with anyone willing to listen. He spoke openly and boldly about his faith and his beliefs, never wavering in his convictions. A friend once affectionately described him as “a zebra of many colors,” a fitting tribute to a man who delighted in wearing bright, colorful clothing and never worried about what others might think. Woody marched to the beat of his own drum and lived authentically and joyfully.

Above all, Woody loved his family and treasured the time spent with those he held dear. His unique spirit, sense of humor, steadfast faith, and colorful presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to honor Woody by dressing patriotically or wearing bright, colorful attire in remembrance of the joyful way he lived his life. A potluck reception and time of fellowship will follow.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
