Anita Carol Langston
January 12, 1942 — February 28, 2026
Obituary – Anita Carol Langston (January 12, 1942 – February 28, 2026)
Anita Carol Langston, 84, passed away February 28, 2026 in Seattle, Washington.
She was born in 1942 to Carroll Clayburn and Barbara “Bobby” Crubaugh in Dallas, Texas.
Anita lived in Olympia, Washington for the past 30 years, enjoying her beautiful waterfront home along South Puget Sound, and before that in Seattle, Washington; Dallas, Denton, San Antonio, Texas; and New Orleans, La. She graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters in Public Administration. Professionally, Anita was a teacher of high school and college mathematics in Dallas and Olympia, an Investigator for the Office of Civil Rights in the Department of Education in Dallas and Seattle, and an Ombudsman for Thurston County.
Anita was smart, loyal, funny, fun, caring and a loving mother and grandmother. She truly enjoyed spending quality time with family, including family game time, kayaking adventures, gardening, neighborhood walks, and finding the best restaurants to enjoy amazing meals out together. She cared very much about social justice causes and protecting the environment, as well as beautifying landscapes with gardening and planting of trees. She volunteered in her community at church in Dallas, at Habitat for Humanity and the Housing Justice Project in Olympia just to name a few. She loved playing bridge, going out to eat or movies with her friends. She loved her cats and her view of Puget Sound. She had many friends that she cherished. She will be greatly missed.
Anita leaves behind a son, David Langston (Leila); daughter, Carol Langston (Laurie); two grandchildren, Christopher and Maya; and her sweet tuxedo kitty, Lizzie. She was predeceased by parents, Carroll and Barbara Crubaugh; and grandparents, George and Mary Crubaugh, and Richard and Nannie Carter.
A small memorial service will be held this summer in Olympia, Washington.
Our grief is deep, profound, and immeasurable, but as they say, the greater the grief, the greater the love, as grief is the reflection of love. May her memory be blessing. May she live on in our hearts and in our lives as we go forth to live to the fullest in her honor.
