Beyond her professional achievements, Bonnie was a gifted photographer whose keen eye and love of nature earned her work a place in National Geographic, allowing the wider world to see through her lens the beauty she so deeply cherished. She found joy in kayaking the serene waterways, spending quiet, peaceful moments in her garden, and looking forward to salmon fishing on the Steamboat Island Bridge every year. Baking was another of her beloved pursuits, where the warmth she felt inside shone vividly in the lovingly crafted treats she shared with those around her.

Bonnie’s family was the center of her heart. She survived by her life partner Tommy Vannatta , her sons, Tyler Sims and Jesse Sims; her daughter, Hanna Simcosky; and her sisters, Susie Bennett, Patty Burfoot, and Linda Kiefer. Together, they carry forward her legacy of generosity and unwavering spirit. Bonnie was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Beverly and George Burfoot, whose memories she cherished deeply.

A life lived with purpose, grace, and an enduring passion for the world—Bonnie Louise Burfoot’s memory will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her legacy is woven into the fabric of her family, her community, and the natural beauty she so lovingly captured and protected. Though she has left this Earth, the light she brought to it remains forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
